The Observer Magazine: Out of the Blue

In March, I was commissioned to create a series of large-scale backdrops for Out of the Blue, a fashion story in The Observer Magazine. Styled by Jo Jones and Helen Seamons, and photographed by Jon Gorrigan

The editorial shoot featured looks from some of the biggest names in fashion right now, including Prada, Chanel, Simone Rocha, Diesel, Balenciaga and more.

I worked across multiple oversized canvas drops using bright Montana spray paint, bold symbolic shapes, stencil text, and raw street-style chaos. The scale of the project meant working in stages, carefully managing the composition across backdrop while keeping the energy loose, raw and physical.

The whole thing was fast, instinctive and , made to hold space and set a tone and make the denim pop.

Seeing it published in The Observer Magazine was a standout moment. Being credited in the contributors sections made it either better!

I’m looking forward to doing more projects like this.
