Designing the Artwork for Andrew Cushin’s Single ‘Goodbye’.

I was delighted to be asked to create the artwork for Andrew Cushin’s single Goodbye.
Andrew and I first met a few years ago while he was touring as a support act for Louis Tomlinson. Working behind the scenes in music often means crossing paths with talented artists, and Andrew was one of those people who immediately stood out. Since then, we’ve stayed in touch, and I’ve enjoyed watching his career continue to grow.
When Andrew approached me about creating the artwork for Goodbye, we spent time discussing the direction he wanted to take. We looked through different areas of my work, as my practice moves between several visual styles. Alongside some of my canvas paintings, a series of digital portraits I created a few years ago particularly resonated with him. He was drawn to the bold colour, layered compositions, and energy within the pieces. As we needed a fairly quick turnaround, working digitally felt like the right approach for the project.
From there, we decided to build the artwork around a portrait of Andrew. Rather than creating a straightforward likeness, I wanted the image to feel expressive, vibrant, and visually striking. Using layers of colour, pattern, texture, and mark-making, I gradually built the portrait until it felt balanced and complete. The finished piece combines bright colour with movement and detail, creating something designed to stand out while still feeling connected to the emotion of the song.
What I’ve always loved about Andrew’s music is the honesty within it. His songwriting has a depth and vulnerability that feels genuine, and I wanted the artwork to reflect some of that character while still standing confidently as its own piece.
It was a pleasure to collaborate with Andrew on this project and contribute to a release that means so much to him. Seeing the final artwork paired with the music has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m proud to have played a small part in bringing the visual side of Goodbye to life.
Have a listen to Goodbye and follow Andrew’s journey as one of the most authentic voices in British indie music today.
